Obama Presidential Center opens with a lot of polish and a lot of attention
Barack and Michelle Obama sat down with Good Morning America host Robin Roberts to talk about the opening of the Obama Presidential Center on the South Side of Chicago. The center is set to open to the public on Juneteenth, and the project has already drawn plenty of attention because of its massive price tag, which has topped $850 million. Barack Obama answered, “Fun.” Michelle Obama, never one to waste a chance to make the moment about herself, answered, “Me.” The clip quickly got attention online because it was so blunt and so perfectly on brand. Some people call that confidence. Others call it a reminder that Michelle Obama has never been big on pretending to play the background role. Either way, the answer was short, memorable, and just self-focused enough to keep the internet busy for a while.
