Indiana Democrat Jaime West Says She Had Three Beers Before Viral Candidate Forum Outburst

The Forum Clip Sent Social Media Spinning

Jaime West, also listed as Jamie West in some references, is the Democratic nominee for Fayette County Council District 4 in Connersville, Indiana. During a candidate forum, her comments moved quickly from state legislation and fire services to data centers and her dislike of Republicans. The delivery was emotional and difficult to follow, turning a local political appearance into a viral clip. Among the remarks drawing attention were her vow to “fire all Republicans,” the warning “We have guns too,” and a demand that data centers pay every resident $10,000. The clip was presented as a real candidate forum, not a scripted comedy segment. That is quite a platform—and not exactly the calm, town-hall style voters usually expect.

Morgan Asked the Question Everyone Was Asking

On Piers Morgan Uncensored, Morgan asked West what had happened before the forum. He noted that many people believed she might have had a drink. West first said she had a Coors Light and “a beer.” When Morgan asked whether that meant one beer, she changed the answer to “maybe a couple.” After he pressed her to be completely honest, West gave the answer that became the focus of the interview: “All right. Three beers.” She also said she had been nervous because she was entering a room full of Republicans. The answer moved from one beer, to maybe a couple, to three in a short exchange.

She Did Not Blame the Drinks for Her Views

Morgan also asked whether West had had anything to drink before their interview. She said she had not. He then gave her an opening to blame the alcohol for her statements about Republicans. West declined to do that. Instead, she said, “I say it all the time,” and added, “I’m not friends with them. I don’t like them.” In other words, West acknowledged the three beers but indicated that the hostility expressed in the forum was not simply a product of that evening’s drinking. Voters can decide what they make of that explanation, but the interview did provide a direct answer to the question that had followed the viral performance.
