Once again, we find ourselves dealing with the blatant hypocrisy of the left, this time in the form of Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA). He’s been quick to defend Americans’ right to protest but has shown a distinct bias against anti-Israel protesters, particularly those who have set up camp on campuses such as Columbia University and Harvard University.
In a recent interview with NewsNation host Chris Stirewalt, Fetterman revealed his true colors by openly criticizing these protestors who are merely exercising their constitutional right to free speech.
These protestors are advocating for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, urging universities to divest from Israeli companies, calling for an end to study abroad programs in Israel, and demanding that the U.S. government stop arming Israel. However, according to Fetterman’s twisted logic, standing up for your beliefs is not ‘really helpful’ if it doesn’t align with his personal views.
“It’s a great American value to protest, but I don’t believe living in a pup tent for Hamas is really helpful,” Fetterman stated.
Anti-Israel protests and encampments have been springing up across the country, from Northwestern University to the University of Pennsylvania. Yet, instead of supporting these students’ right to protest, Fetterman seems more focused on suppressing their voices.
The anti-Israel encampments and protests are rallying behind an initial encampment established at Columbia University. However, since their inception, students have faced suspension, arrests have been made, and graduation ceremonies have been canceled – all because they dared to voice their opposition to Israel’s actions.
“It's a great American value to protest, but I don't believe living in a pup tent for Hamas is really helpful,” @JohnFetterman, D-Pa., told NewsNation's Chris Stirewalt on #TheHillSunday as he addressed the increase of pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses. pic.twitter.com/elhIQepmm5

To add insult to injury, Fetterman brazenly claimed that there was a “germ of antisemitism in all of these protests,” citing words from Khymani James, one of the leaders of the anti-Israel encampment at Columbia University: “One of the leaders in Columbia said some just awful things talking about, ‘Well, they’re lucky I’m not killing Zionists,’ and things like that.”
Following Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and over 200 hostages taken by Hamas, antisemitic incidents in the United States have surged by 360 percent according to the Anti-Defamation League.
Despite this alarming rise in antisemitic incidents following Hamas’s attack on Israel – an attack that caused widespread death and hostage-taking – Fetterman has continued to defend Israel while lambasting anti-Israel protesters. It’s clear where his allegiances lie: with his political agenda rather than with the American people’s right to free speech.
