Deceased Individuals Found in Vehicle Outside Governor’s Office

An SUV stuffed with 10 dead bodies was left outside the office of a Mexican state governor. The Mazda SUV, filled with the corpses, was parked near a Christmas tree in the main plaza of the state capital in the state capital of Zacatecas, in north-central Mexico.

All of the deceased, 8 men and two women, had severe bruising that indicated they had been beaten, Zacatecas state governor David Monreal said.

“They came to leave them here in front of the palace,” he said, indicating his offices in a historic building.

Autopsies showed that all 10 of the victims died of “asphyxiation by strangulation,” according to the state’s chief prosecutor José Murillo Ruiseco.

Six of the victims had injuries suggesting their hands and feet had been tied together, and one victim showed signs he had been tortured.

The Mexican security ministry is assisting in the investigation of the incident.

Several cartels are engaged in a bloody and violent war for control of the area and violence is at an all-time high.

Two arrests have been made in connection with the murders.
