What happened
Jason and Kaylee Taylor, both active duty members of the U.S. Space Force, returned from a trip to find their Washington DC row house broken into and set on fire. The attackers spray painted the couple’s car with profanity targeting President Trump and the Space Force. The family and their infant daughter were out of town and escaped physical harm, but their home and belongings were destroyed and their cat did not survive.

According to the family GoFundMe and media reports, the fire destroyed almost everything inside the home. Clothing, furniture, baby items, keepsakes, and essentials were lost. The GoFundMe said funds would cover temporary housing, basic needs, and rebuilding costs. This is a heartbreaking blow to a young military family that serves the country.
Fire response and ongoing investigation
The DC Fire and EMS Department reported a Box Alarm and said crews worked nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze. Authorities consider the fire intentionally set and are investigating the break in, vandalism, and arson. Local reporters and responders shared updates online as the scene unfolded.
