Could former President Donald Trump be looking for a female vice president?
In an interview with NBC News on Thursday, Trump discussed the possibility of picking a female running mate.
In answer to a query from “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker, Trump expressed enthusiasm for the proposal.
“Are you leaning toward a woman?” Welker asked in the interview, which aired Sunday.
“I like the concept, but we’re going to pick the best person,” Trump said.
“But I do like the concept, yes.”
Trump clarified that he tries not to “think too much about it,” claiming that the time hasn’t come yet and that he’s focused on winning the Republican primary.
Trump, on the other hand, cited South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem’s record as very intriguing.
“She’s been a great governor.”

“She gave me a very full-throated endorsement, a beautiful endorsement actually.”
“And, you know, it’s been a very good state for me.”
“And certainly she’d be one of the people I’d consider, or for something else maybe. But we have a lot of people. We have a lot of great people in the Republican Party.”
Earlier this month, Noem endorsed Trump during a rally in South Dakota.

In the interview, Trump also rejected the idea of presidential contenders facing an age limit, while he did push for President Joe Biden to take a cognitive test to assess his fitness for the administration.
Trump also addressed the wave of criminal indictments issued by federal and state prosecutors throughout the interview.

The former president leads Republican primary polls, with most polls showing him with a large advantage over his opponents.
According to a RealClearPolitics poll, Trump has a 56.6 percent majority of support among likely primary voters, a 44-point margin over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has 12.7 percent. The other candidates are all in the single digits.
