Travis Kelce, the star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has officially become the highest-paid player in his position within the NFL. He’s just signed a contract extension worth a staggering $34.25 million over two years.
The 34-year-old veteran, who has dedicated his entire 12-year career to the Chiefs, took to social media to celebrate this significant milestone. He is set to stick with the franchise through at least the 2027 season.
“It feels good to be in KC,” Kelce said. “I remember coming here 12 years ago, man. It’s an honor and a pleasure, and I can’t wait to get after it these next two years.”
Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs quarterback, expressed his enthusiasm about continuing to collaborate with one of his leading targets on the field.
Brett Veach, General Manager of the Chiefs, emphasized that adjusting Kelce’s contract was crucial in order to adequately compensate him for his invaluable contributions both on and off the field.
“Hard to put in words what Travis means to this organization, this city, and he was certainly a priority to adjust his contract for us, and it was something that was important for Clark [Hunt],” Brett Veach said. “So very fitting that Travis [is] now the highest-paid tight end in these two years.”
Since 2017, Kelce has played a pivotal role in leading the Chiefs to three Super Bowl appearances and one championship victory, alongside Mahomes.
