Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) officially announced his support for former President Donald Trump on Tuesday night, following Trump’s victory in the Iowa caucuses. Cruz expressed his commitment to Trump’s presidential campaign in a statement released on X, a platform formerly known as Twitter.
Cruz emphasized the importance of uniting against President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party’s policies, which he views as harmful to the nation. He wrote, “I am proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for President. Now is the time for us to unite to oust Joe Biden and save our country from the Democrats’ destructive agenda.”
In his endorsement, Cruz also encouraged supporters to donate to Trump’s campaign, highlighting the urgency of their joint effort to defeat Biden and “Save America.” He shared a donation link for Trump’s campaign, urging supporters to make a significant contribution.
Cruz is among at least 23 other U.S. senators who have endorsed Trump in the Republican presidential primary. This isn’t the first time Cruz has supported Trump; he endorsed him in the 2020 and 2016 elections. In 2016, Cruz ended his own presidential campaign during the primaries, after which he backed Trump despite personal insults directed at him by Trump during the campaign. These insults were reportedly later apologized for by Trump.
Cruz has been a vocal defender of Trump, especially in light of his ongoing legal challenges. He has accused Democrats of misusing the legal system against Trump.
