So-called ‘squad’ member and New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman, a far-left Democrat, is teetering on the brink of political oblivion.
His primary rival George Latimer has been outstripping him in the polls since April, and continues to hold the lead.
To add insult to injury, Hillary Clinton has thrown her weight behind Latimer. That’s got to be a bitter pill for Bowman to swallow.
Politico reports:
Hillary Clinton endorses George Latimer in challenge to unseat Jamaal Bowman
On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton dealt yet another blow to vulnerable Rep. Jamaal Bowman by endorsing his formidable challenger just hours after Bowman once again leveled accusations of racism at him.
The endorsement from Clinton is one of the most high-profile nods in this increasingly contentious primary race. Westchester County Executive George Latimer is gaining traction against incumbent Squad member Bowman, who counts among his supporters Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren…
“With Trump on the ballot, we need strong, principled Democrats in Congress more than ever,” the former secretary of state and 2016 Democratic nominee for president posted on X. “In Congress, @LatimerforNY will protect abortion rights, stand up to the NRA, and fight for President Biden’s agenda — just like he’s always done.”
Clinton’s support for Biden’s vision aligns with Latimer’s campaign messaging. His team has been emphasizing Bowman’s vote against the bipartisan infrastructure plan championed by Biden. Bowman has argued that his vote was not crucial to the law’s passage and that he wanted to push for social spending.
Will Hillary Clinton now find herself in the ‘squad’s’ crosshairs?

The guy who pulled a fire alarm to stop a vote in The House (there's video) is NOT endorsed by Hillary. #Bowman https://t.co/SuEEdVrvlt

Who knows? Perhaps the lack of Hillary’s endorsement might actually work in Bowman’s favor. After all, she isn’t exactly popular among Republicans.
