As we march towards the 2024 presidential election, the Democrats continue their relentless assault on the integrity of the Supreme Court, using it as a political tool to rally support. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in a recent CNN interview with Anderson Cooper, audaciously labelled the Supreme Court as “rogue” and questioned the leadership of Chief Justice John Roberts. Pelosi’s blatant disrespect for the institution is clear, especially in light of the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.
“No, I think they’ve gone rogue. It’s most unfortunate,” Pelosi stated, casting aspersions on Chief Justice John Roberts’ leadership. She asked if he had “gone weak or did he go rogue.”
The Democrats are shamelessly exploiting the sensitive issue of abortion to rally pro-choice supporters for the upcoming election. Vice President Kamala Harris, speaking in Atlanta, emphasized reproductive rights as a key battleground, with plans for over 50 nationwide events marking the anniversary of the Dobbs decision.
Pelosi further undermined the Supreme Court’s role by stating to Cooper, “I respect their [the Supreme Court’s] point of view. If they have a point of view about a woman’s right to choose, okay, but that’s not what they’re there to do — to advocate for a point of view. Run for Congress. They’re there to uphold the Constitution of the United States.”
Adding to this charade are accusations from Democrats about ethics concerns involving conservative justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, who allegedly took luxury trips without proper disclosure. This has led to a push for a code of ethics for the Supreme Court, a move staunchly opposed by Republicans who see it as an attempt to undermine the court.
Senator Lindsey Graham rightfully criticized this push for the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency (SCERT) Act, calling it an attempt to “micromanage the Roberts court” and undermine conservative justices. Senate Republicans stood firm and blocked the bill, which aimed to alter financial disclosure requirements and ethical standards for Supreme Court justices.
The actions of the Supreme Court and the controversies stirred up by Democrats will be a significant issue as we approach the 2024 presidential election. While Democrats continue their attempts to manipulate public opinion, Republicans stand strong in defense of the court’s integrity.
