Jerry Seinfeld, a renowned comedian, recently faced disruption during his stand-up performance in Virginia due to anti-Israel protesters. One protester, who was vocal about his support for Palestine, interrupted the show with accusations against the “Seinfeld” creator, branding him a “genocide supporter.”
The protester’s shouts included calls to “Save the children of Gaza! No more American tax dollars for genocide!” The crowd swiftly began to jeer at the disruptor, urging him to “shut up and get out.”
Despite the crowd’s reaction, the demonstrator persisted in yelling at the audience, proclaiming “You should be ashamed of yourself! You should all be ashamed of yourselves!” Seinfeld responded to this with a sarcastic remark: “This is fun. I like this. I think your message is really resonating with the crowd. People seem to be on your side.”
The protester countered with “How dare you support a genocide!” To which Seinfeld joked, “I like it when the Jew-haters spice up the show.”
A video from the event showed a spectator physically engaging with the protester and eventually putting him in a headlock before security intervened and removed him from the venue.
As he was being escorted out, audience members could be heard chanting “Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!”
According to TMZ, there were about eight protesters present at the event, all of whom were escorted out by security. Witnesses reported that Seinfeld urged the audience not to boo the protesters and showed support for their right to protest.
SevenVenues, the producer of the show, released a statement expressing their disappointment over the disruption of the sold-out performance at Chrysler Hall.
