Tristan James Hamm, a prominent outdoors influencer, faces 19 charges of breaking Canada’s hunting laws, including poaching and illegally exporting bear remains.
These allegations have shocked the hunting community, tarnishing the image of hunters in general.
Hamm’s public advocacy for ethical wildlife practices has led to accusations of hypocrisy.
Bryce Bekar, president of the Yukon Fish and Game Association, said, “We’re kinda lost for words. We all understand how difficult it is to get a license and become registered with the [Yukon] Department of Environment.”
“It just doesn’t look good for all of us that are really trying to do the best we can and promote ethical and responsible harvesting,” he continued.
Behind every post, there’s a purpose. This year I’ve donated over $350K to various families in my community. My mission has always been to use my online influence to create real-world connections. You will never see a post from me that doesn’t have a selfless purpose. Stepping in… pic.twitter.com/1OyFrMeRV5

Hamm wrote in a statement that he was “deeply saddened” and has an “unwavering commitment to responsible and respectful engagement with the natural world.”
“I appreciate the concerns raised and share the goal of promoting ethical wildlife practices,” said Hamm.
“I am looking forward to this matter being resolved appropriately in court,” he continued.
His actions not only affect him but also the entire hunting community, potentially undermining trust and risking the rights of all hunters.
The case highlights the importance of trust and ethical behavior within the close-knit outdoors community, with potential ramifications for the preservation of ecosystems and the broader public perception of hunting.
