In a glaring display of unprofessionalism, court-disclosed text messages have exposed an investigator from the office of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for making inappropriate advances towards a witness amid an ongoing investigation. This is yet another stain on the reputation of Willis’ office, which seems to be as much about political theatrics as it is about justice.
This shameful incident came to light during the high-profile RICO case against Atlanta’s YSL rap group, led by Jeffrey “Young Thug” Williams. Willis, who has been pursuing this case with a zeal that smacks more of personal vendetta than legal prudence, accuses YSL of engaging in criminal activities such as drug trafficking and violence. Her aggressive stance mirrors the questionable tactics she’s employed against former President Trump and his allies, painting a picture of a DA more interested in headlines than in upholding the law.
On Monday, it was revealed that one of Willis’ investigators, known as Hamilton, crossed professional boundaries by sending flirtatious texts to A. Bennett—a witness in the case—according to Newsweek. One such message brazenly suggested, “Hit me up if you’re bored later. We’re not gonna talk shop.”
Under cross-examination by Williams’ attorney, Bennett confirmed that Hamilton was indeed attempting to solicit her for a date under the guise of discussing case details: “And this is February 7 of 2024, this year, when the investigator for the DA’s office is supposed to be talking to you about a case, but in fact, is calling you talking about going on a date. Is that true?” The answer was an unequivocal “Yes.”
Bennett also testified how Hamilton repeatedly addressed her as “mama,” further showcasing his unprofessional conduct. In one message displayed in court he wrote: “G[ood] m[orning] Mama. Hope you slept well… I’ll talk 2 u soon,” clearly demonstrating how casual and inappropriate his communications were.
The witness’s testimony relates to an alleged robbery involving Williams and several associates—a matter serious enough that it should demand absolute professionalism from those involved in its prosecution. Instead, we see members of Willis’ team treating it with frivolity.
The YSL case itself has been dragging on interminably similar to Willis’ pursuit against President Trump—both cases moving at what can only be described as a deliberate crawl with jury selection alone taking over a year. It’s becoming increasingly clear that these drawn-out legal battles are less about justice and more about Democratic prosecutors like Willis wielding their power irresponsibly and wasting taxpayer dollars on political witch hunts.
