Megyn Kelly’s departure from NBC News has been shrouded in controversy, but the truth has finally come to light. Contrary to the network’s claims that her exit was due to inappropriate comments about Halloween costumes, Kelly has bravely exposed the real reason: a fundamental disagreement with NBC’s refusal to report on Harvey Weinstein’s misconduct.
Defying the narrative pushed by NBC chairman Andy Lack, Megyn Kelly took a bold stand on air. She revealed that despite Lack’s memo claiming insufficient evidence to report on Weinstein, she had seen a script proving otherwise. “[I] went on the airwaves one day and I did not criticize my boss, but I did put the lie to a memo he had put out claiming NBC did not have the reporting on Harvey Weinstein. And that’s why they spiked Ronan Farrow’s devastating report on Harvey,” Kelly disclosed.
This act of journalistic integrity seemed too much for NBC, as merely three weeks after her challenge, they canceled her show. The network had previously claimed innocence, stating “Remember, they had it in hand and the reporting in the news was that they spiked it because Harvey had threatened them over Matt Lauer,” said Kelly. “NBC News defended itself by saying, ‘We didn’t have it. We never had anybody go on the record with the claims against Harvey.’ And I had my hands on a script showing that they did.”
The correlation between her unyielding pursuit of truth and her subsequent firing is hard to ignore—“Totally coincidentally, three weeks later I lost my show,” she remarked sarcastically.
Kelly’s account is a damning indictment of NBC News’ suppression of investigative journalism and their protection of powerful elites like Weinstein—a reflection of how far some media outlets are willing to go to cover up for Democrat-aligned moguls.
