It seems the Biden administration is in turmoil, with anonymous members comparing the chaotic atmosphere to the comedy film “Weekend at Bernie’s”. This comes just over a week after President Joe Biden’s calamitous debate performance. Axios disclosed these revelations from staffers who voiced their concerns about Biden’s prospects for November and where they believe his top advisors have blundered.
A White House official expressed to Axios, “Everyone is miserable, and senior advisers are a total black hole,” indicating a lack of acknowledgment from superiors. A high-ranking Democratic National Committee official suggested that only the president demonstrating his capability to run this campaign could alleviate anxieties.
He further added, “Everything else feels like ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ by his inner circle to prop him up.”

The criticism mainly revolves around top advisors such as Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomasini, First Lady’s top advisor Anthony Bernal, and longtime aide Ashley Williams. These individuals are accused of forming an overly protective barrier around the president when he should be open to diverse opinions on how to steer things back on track. Some insiders claim that this trio often steps in during the president’s senior moments, reminding him of people he has known for years.
As a former Biden aide told Axios: “Annie, Ashley, and Anthony create a protective bubble around POTUS. He’s staffed so closely that he’s lost all independence. POTUS relies on staff to nudge him with reminders of who he’s meeting, including former staffers and advisers who Biden should easily remember without a reminder from Annie.”
Yet, White House spokesman Andrew Bates brushed off these concerns as “anonymous sniping,”, arguing that it’s common for presidents to rely on a small, trusted team of advisors. He defended the professionalism and character of these individuals and dismissed the claims as inaccurate.
Despite growing calls from Congress members and influential Democrats for Biden to abandon his campaign, the president’s team continues to push the narrative that he has a strong record to run on and that one poor debate performance shouldn’t be decisive. DNC Executive Director Sam Cornale stated that “90 minutes doesn’t define a presidency. President Biden has given us 3½ years of extraordinary accomplishments…”
Campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz added that “there’s an immense sense of pride across our office.”
