Kamala Harris’ Scandalous Past Resurfaces, Threatens to Derail Her Campaign

Conservatives have a solid argument against Vice President Kamala Harris, provided they sidestep scandalous innuendo and frame the issue correctly.

This past Sunday, as reported by The San Francisco Standard, Willie Brown, the former Mayor of San Francisco, unexpectedly endorsed Harris to replace President Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee during an impromptu press conference outside a restaurant.

To say the least, Harris could have done without Brown’s endorsement.

The mainstream media will predictably overlook significant details about his past relationship with the vice president. The Standard merely mentioned that Brown “dated Harris when she was an Alameda County prosecutor in the mid-1990s.”

However, the truth extends beyond simple dating.

A 2019 profile in Politico Magazine revealed that San Francisco newspapers began referencing Harris in 1994. One columnist noted that actor Clint Eastwood had spilled champagne on Brown’s “new steady,” who happened to be Harris, then only 29 years old.

Before long, her romantic connection with Brown proved beneficial. Politico reported that “Harris had dated Brown, who was investigated by the FBI when he was speaker of the California Assembly and as mayor was dogged by conflict of interest, and she had benefited from his political patronage.”

Indeed, “As the speaker of the state Assembly, Brown had named Harris to well-paid posts on the California Medical Assistance Commission and Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board.”

Moreover, “As mayor of San Francisco in 2003, Brown supported her district attorney campaign even though they were no longer together. Critics — including her opponents — cried foul over cronyism at City Hall.”

In essence, Harris, a young woman of 29, was involved romantically with an older man who granted her government positions and later found himself under federal scrutiny.

As we’ve seen in recent years, federal investigations do not necessarily imply guilt. Therefore, any suggestion of impropriety is less important than how Harris kickstarted her political career.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh highlighted this aspect of Harris’ past on Sunday.

“Kamala Harris got her start in politics by sleeping with Willie Brown,” Walsh stated in a post on X.

“She’s made a career out of begging for hand outs from powerful men. A thoroughly unimpressive human being,” he continued.

However, Naomi Wolf, a former liberal who has seen the light thanks to the establishment’s authoritarian COVID-19 policies, cautioned conservatives against focusing on Harris’ sexual past.

“This kind of sexist take from Republican men will not play well. Swing voters who are women are up for grabs, the Trump/Vance ticket needs them, and ‘she slept her way to the top’ just repels many women and is not an argument,” she wrote in response to Walsh.

While Walsh makes several valid points about Harris’ rise, Republicans would be wise to heed Wolf’s advice.

In summary, Harris’ romantic involvement with Brown underscores the fact that she has spent her career amassing unearned power. Her sudden promotion to the top of the Democratic ticket is merely the latest instance.

Voters may not care about whom Harris dated three decades ago. However, they should care that every time she opens her mouth, she reveals herself as unworthy of the power she wields.

The Brown story serves as a reminder to voters of who she is and how her “thoroughly unimpressive” career started.

Consequently, his endorsement was the last thing she needed.
