Disney’s Marvel Unit Fires Staff and Slashes Production after Their ‘Woke’ Agenda Crashes and Burns!

Following a series of box office disasters, Marvel, a Disney subsidiary, announced on Monday that it would be laying off 15 employees. This decision comes as the company attempts to recalibrate following years of underwhelming performance from its so-called ‘woke’ productions. The layoffs will affect various departments within Marvel Studios in Burbank and the Marvel Entertainment division in New York, as reported by Variety.

The studio plans to slow down its previously rapid release schedule, which was initially designed to boost the Disney+ streaming service. This move was expected as Disney finalizes its decision to incorporate the independent Marvel Entertainment banner into other divisions within the company.

Prior to this announcement, Disney had already let go of several Marvel executives, including chairman Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter.

2023 was a particularly disastrous year for both Marvel and Disney at large. The studio suffered its biggest loss ever with the feminist-themed “The Marvels”. The film, which served as a sequel to 2019’s “Captain Marvel,” only managed to earn $47 million during its opening weekend and ended with a global gross of $140 million. Considering that the film’s budget exceeded $300 million, this performance was an unprecedented failure for the company.

After this dismal box office run, director Nia DaCosta resorted to labeling moviegoers as “sexists, racists and homophobes.”

“There are pockets where you go because you’re like, ‘I’m a super fan. I want to exist in the space of just adoration — which includes civilized critique,’” DaCosta told Variety last year. “Then there are pockets that are really virulent and violent and racist — and sexist and homophobic and all those awful things. And I choose the side of the light. That’s the part of fandom I’m most attracted to.”

Ironically, despite DaCosta’s accusations, a film that prided itself on its all-female, diverse cast was predominantly watched by a 65 percent male audience.
