Disney Braces: ‘Blockbuster’ Looks Like A Dud, Tries To Duck & Run

The cinematic landscape for superhero films is continuously evolving, and the latest development in this realm is the tempered expectations for “The Marvels,” the upcoming sequel to 2019’s “Captain Marvel.” Initially, industry experts predicted a robust opening weekend, with projected ticket sales hovering between $75 and $80 million. However, recent forecasts have significantly scaled down these expectations, now estimating a more modest debut of $60 to $65 million.

The first Brie Larson-fronted movie, a staple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), made an impressive debut with $153.4 million in North America and eventually amassed a global total of $1.13 billion, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Despite this, “The Marvels” is not anticipated to replicate such financial success.

Several factors contribute to these diminished expectations. Why? Once again, they decided to push an agenda instead of putting a quality story together. Instead of putting together a great film, Disney used woke story telling.

By the way, the diversity of Captain Marvel has nothing to do with how terrible the upcoming films is. The first movie star and co-star was Bri Larson and Lashana Lynch, and it was a fun, great film that performed well. The film grossed over $1 billion globally and was directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.

It was when the company put an agenda in the screenplay that people have decided to pass.

In contrast, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” earlier this year defied this trend, opening to $106 million and eventually raking in $845.6 million globally.  The film also had no agenda and was the last of the series.

The movie is destined to do so poorly that Disney added clips of some of the old Marvel movies to try and increase interest. A new trailer was released just before the premiere, emphasizing the film’s ties to the popular “Avengers” series.

Apparently, Disney hasn’t learned from Warner Brothers.

Warner Brothers ended up permanently scrapping a film fully produced film because it was so “woke.” It was so bad that the studio scrapped a fully produced movie ready to hit the theaters for the “sake of the brand’s future.” Wisely, Warner Bros decided that a $70 million loss is better than public humiliation.

There are some signs that Iger over at Disney is catching on. The company has decided to “pause” the release of Snow White and has canceled most of their upcoming series on Disney Plus because they were so bad.
