The renowned conservative commentator and former Fox News host, Tucker Carlson, has given a resounding endorsement to former President Donald Trump’s decision to select Senator JD Vance (R-OH) as his running mate. Carlson made this known during a speech at the Heritage Foundation’s Policy Fest at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
“Anyone with their eyes wide open should be overjoyed by this choice. If you’re not familiar with J.D. Vance, I’m not here to sell him to you,” said Carlson.
“What I can tell you is that every corrupt individual I’ve encountered in Washington was against J.D. Vance.”
He further argued that Vance stood out as the best candidate from Trump’s speculated shortlist which included names like Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY). It was once rumored that Carlson himself was on the list but it’s unclear if this was ever seriously considered.
“I don’t always believe my side is right. I have been wrong many times, and I strive to admit my mistakes and correct them,” Carlson admitted at the Heritage Foundation event. “But I certainly know who is representing the other side.”
Carlson, who recently launched the Tucker Carlson Network, highlighted the strong opposition Vance faced from those who profit from “killing other people in pointless wars.”
“I can identify these individuals by their overpowering stench. And every single one of those people, in a line that would extend from Milwaukee to Chicago, have been plotting against J.D. Vance,” he revealed.
“And they attacked him in a way I’ve rarely seen, which is a common occurrence in Washington. I just don’t see it because I prefer to keep my distance.”
Vance reportedly received not more than 20 minutes notice before Trump officially announced him as his running mate on a Truth Social post. Despite being a freshman senator and a former critic of Trump, Vance has become one of the former president’s staunchest supporters in the Senate.
The campaign believes that his inclusion on the ticket will significantly influence voter turnout in key Rust Belt states.
