Tuesday evening, the Department of Homeland Security posted a document on the Federal Registry that announced the administration was waiving federal laws, 26 in fact, to construct a border wall in Starr Texas.
The notice was signed by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Part of the document cites an exuberant number of illegals encountered in the Rio Grand Valley Sector; “As of early August 2023, Border Patrol had encountered over 245,000 such entrants attempting to enter the United States between ports of entry in the Rio Grande Valley Sector in Fiscal Year 2023.”
Mayorkas also wrote, “There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas.”
A spokesperson for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection shared that the waiver was issued under the federal immigration law and that the project had been announced back in June.
The spokesperson noted the funds were appropriated in 2019 for the “construction of border barrier in the Rio Grand Valley, and DHS is required to use those funds for their appropriate purpose.” The construction of the border wall will span 17 miles in Starr County.
It seems with pressure mounting from Democrat sanctuary cities that are being flooded with illegal immigrants the Biden Administration can no longer play games.
Only time will tell if the wall is constructed and with the Biden Administration dragging their feet there have already been untold numbers of illegals crossing the border in hoards.
