ICYMI – By now, most of you have probably seen the video of Jordan Neely dying in a chokehold in the New York subway.
The Marine that took him down when he was acting erratic and getting in people’s faces is now being targeted.
If reports are accurate, he will soon be facing second-degree manslaughter charges.
Coming for Him
This is a tough case for some to try to figure out, but I know where I put my blame.
Former Manhattan prosecutor turned criminal defense lawyer Mark Bederow stated, “Even if you’re initially allowed to use force, it has to be proportional, and a 15-minute chokehold, that’s a pretty long time. At the point that the threat is immobilized, you’re no longer permitted to use force.
“People calling this murder need to slow down.
“I don’t think anyone who is looking at this seriously thinks this guy had intent to kill a mentally disturbed man or acted with depraved indifference to human life.”
Neely had a record a mile long, and a long history of mental health issues.
With his record and mental health, I am trying to figure out why he was still on the street and not institutionalized.
The Marine never should have been in the position to protect other people on the train from Neely, nor would he have had to if adequate police were on that rain.
Why did it take 15 minutes for someone to respond to the call, forcing the Marine to keep Neely under control that entire time?
Democrats like AOC are sounding off to charge the Marine for murder, but let me ask a quick question before I let you go…
If AOC was on that subway train and Neely was threatening her, how do you think AOC’s security would have reacted?
If Joe Biden was on that train and Neely charged after him screaming and acting in a threatening nature, what outcome do think would have happened then?
The Marine is not at fault here, the system is.
