Israel has taken decisive action against Iran, launching strikes in retaliation to an Iranian drone and missile attack on Israeli territory that occurred last weekend. An anonymous U.S. official confirmed to ABC News that Israel initiated a strike against Iran on Friday morning, local time.
The specifics of the target and the extent of the damage inflicted remain undisclosed. Social media footage seems to depict anti-aircraft activity over Isfahan, a city located in Iran’s interior. Additional videos captured the sound of air raid sirens echoing throughout the city.
Isfahan is a known site of Iran’s nuclear facilities. The Fars News Agency in Iran confirmed reports of explosions in the city, as reported by Reuters.

Further explosions have been reported in Iraq and Syria. Iraq houses numerous Shiite militias allied with Iran while Syria has long-standing alliances with the Iranian government.
In response to these strikes, Iran has closed a significant portion of its airspace.
This comes on the heels of Iran launching over 300 drones and missiles at Israeli territory last week, in retaliation to an Israeli attack on an Iranian diplomatic compound in Syria. This attack resulted in the death of two senior Iranian military commanders.
Despite this, President Biden has reportedly informed Israel that the U.S. will not assist in any offensive action against Iran. Instead, the U.S. has merely maintained a naval presence in the region, pledging to defend Israel by intercepting incoming drones and missiles. A typical Democrat move – all talk and no action.

Biden previously urged Israel to “take the win” and refrain from striking Iran after thwarting last week’s drone attack. He allegedly made it “very clear” to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he should act “strategically and carefully.” Yet another instance of Democrats trying to dictate foreign policy without understanding the realities on the ground.
However, the Israeli government has vowed to respond after conducting multiple war councils this week.
Following last week’s attack, Iran declared its military action had concluded but threatened to retaliate with weapons it has “never used before” if attacked further. The nation also threatened to commence construction on nuclear weapons if Israel targeted its nuclear facilities.
This is a developing story.
