MSNBC legal analyst Kristy Greenberg revealed the true intentions of special counsel Jack Smith on “Chris Jansing Reports” on Monday, claiming that his recent motion to dismiss the case against President-elect Donald Trump actually “leaves open the possibility” for future prosecution.
Citing language from the motion, Greenberg argued that Smith may still seek to prosecute Trump after his presidency. She read from the filing, stating, “Immunity from prosecution for a sitting president would not preclude such prosecution once the president’s term is over or he is otherwise removed from office by resignation or impeachment.”
Greenberg also speculated about the role of the incoming attorney general, saying that they may support dismissing the case with prejudice, which would mean there is no chance for it to be brought back in the future.
“The fact that Jack Smith left the window open here, I think, is interesting,” Greenberg added, suggesting that there may still be hope for Trump to face consequences for his alleged actions.
This revelation comes after months of delays and legal battles surrounding the case against Trump. Smith indicted Trump in August 2023 for alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election, but faced setbacks as the Supreme Court ultimately ruled in July that former presidents are immune from prosecution for official acts taken in office.
Trump’s team immediately responded to the dismissal of the case, with communications director Steven Cheung stating, “Today’s decision by the DOJ ends the unconstitutional federal cases against President Trump, and it is a major victory for the rule of law.”
Unfortunately, this is not the first time the liberal media has tried to use the justice system to attack Trump. And their constant interference and efforts to discredit him have only served to undermine the will of the American people.
But with a resounding re-election, it is clear that the American people still support Trump and want an end to these baseless attacks. It is time for the media to stop weaponizing the justice system and start respecting the will of the people.
