SEE IT NOW: JD Vance Strikes Back in Fiery Response to Accusations of Trump ‘Manipulating the DOJ’

Ohio Senator JD Vance didn’t hold back when “Meet The Press” host Kristen Welker attempted to corner him with a loaded question. She asked if he would support a “weaponization of the Department of Justice” should former President Donald Trump win re-election. Vance’s response was swift and assertive, turning the spotlight onto the questionable actions within President Biden’s administration.

“The DOJ told Congress this week it reviewed all communication since Biden took office and found no contact between federal prosecutors and those involved with that case in New York,” Welker stated. She then proceeded to dredge up past comments from Vance where he had rightfully criticized the politically driven prosecutions of former President Trump. Yet, she continued to claim there is “no evidence” of a weaponized DOJ under President Biden.

Welker posed the question, “If it’s not okay for Joe Biden to weaponize the Justice Department, as you say, which there’s no evidence of that, why is it okay for Donald Trump to do that?”

Vance wasted no time in referencing the suspicious hiring of Matthew Colangelo, who conveniently resigned from a senior position in the Biden DOJ to work as a low-level prosecutor in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office.

Well, Kristen, first off, your claim that it’s common for the number three person in the Department of Justice to abandon ship and join a local prosecutor’s office to pursue the president’s political opponent is ludicrous. Such an occurrence is unprecedented in American history, and we should not normalize it,” Vance retorted. “If Donald Trump’s attorney general had his number two or three leave for a local prosecutor’s office in Ohio or Wisconsin, and then targeted Trump’s political opposition, we’d have a different conversation. But Trump is merely suggesting we investigate legitimate claims of wrongdoing.”

“That’s all Donald Trump is saying. This isn’t a threat to democracy. It’s simply upholding our system of law and government,” Vance continued.

In a questionable move in December 2022, Bragg hired former Biden DOJ official Matthew Colangelo to focus on prosecuting white collar crimes in Manhattan. Immediately, he was assigned to the Trump case, which he has pursued over the last month.

Colangelo wasn’t just an average DOJ employee when he left to join Bragg’s office. He served as Acting Associate Attorney General in the early days of the Biden Administration, making him the third most senior figure in the Department of Justice.

Adding to the suspicion, Colangelo previously worked for New York Attorney Letitia James, who initiated the highly dubious investigation into Trump surrounding alleged overvaluing of his properties.

Back in 2018, he received payment for his consulting services to the Democratic National Committee. FEC records reveal that the DNC Services Corp/Democratic National Committee paid Colangelo twice on January 31, 2018, totaling $12,000.
