Isra Hirsi, offspring of Democrat Representative Ilhan Omar, is now playing the victim card after being suspended from Barnard College for participating in anti-Israel protests at the neighboring Columbia University. She’s now making claims of being left without a roof over her head and food to eat.
This 21-year-old activist was one among over 100 individuals who were taken into custody for trespassing during these demonstrations last week.
Hirsi protested that this suspension resulted in her being thrown out of campus housing and denied access to the dining hall.
“I was a little bit frantic, like, where am I going to sleep? Where am I gonna go? And also all of my [expletive] is thrown in a random lot. It’s pretty horrible,” Hirsi griped. “I don’t know when I can go home, and I don’t know if I ever will be able to.”
As per Hirsi’s account, she tried contacting administrators but didn’t receive any response for two days, only to be told later that she could pick up a prepackaged bag of food.
Her suspension followed closely on the heels of Omar interrogating Columbia’s leaders about anti-Israel activism on campus during a congressional hearing.
Democrat Representative Jamaal Bowman insinuated that Hirsi’s suspension was a political backlash for Omar’s investigation.
“The day after @IlhanMN questioned Columbia leadership’s commitment to free academic expression, the school suspended her daughter?” Bowman posted online. “It’s clear what is happening here. Our educational institutions should not be in the business of political reprisals.”
