The New York City police have reported the arrest of a violent individual, James Carlson, during an anti-Israel protest at Columbia University.
Carlson, also known as Cody Carlson or Cody Tarlow, is reportedly linked to a wealthy advertising family. According to the New York Post, this “longtime anarchist,” who has no connection to Columbia University, was caught during a police operation at Hamilton Hall on Tuesday.
The authorities are investigating Carlson as the possible leader of the group responsible for the unauthorized occupation of the building. He is reportedly one of the children of famous advertising executives Richard “Dick” Tarlow and Sandy Carlson Tarlow.
Richard Tarlow, who passed away in 2022 at 81, left an estate worth at least $20 million, according to court records. His collaborations with brands like Revlon, Ralph Lauren, and Neutrogena were highlighted in his obituary by AdAge.
In addition to his work in cosmetics and fashion, he was known for his unwavering support for John Jay College and the John Jay Justice Awards.
James Carlson, the heir to the family fortune, owns a three-story brownstone in Park Slope measuring 2,893 square feet. The property features four wood-burning fireplaces and a carriage house, according to property records and online listings.
