Jerry Seinfeld Declares the Death of Hollywood

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld has hit the nail on the head, stating that the movie industry is no longer the titan of cultural entertainment and storytelling it once was. This is a truth that Hollywood, with its liberal bias, continues to ignore.

In an interview discussing his first venture into directing for Netflix, Seinfeld pointed out that films have lost their magic touch with audiences. Gone are the days when people would eagerly anticipate and discuss new releases.

“Directing was “totally new to me,”” Seinfeld said. ““I thought I had done some cool stuff, but it was nothing like the way these [movie] people work. They’re so dead serious! They don’t have any idea that the movie business is over.””

Seinfeld’s observations mirror what many of us conservatives have been saying for years: “[F]ilm doesn’t occupy the pinnacle in the social, cultural hierarchy that it did for most of our lives,” he said. ““When a movie came out, if it was good, we all went to see it. We all discussed it. We quoted lines and scenes we liked.””

This shift can be attributed to the deluge of content available today, much of which leans left and fails to resonate with conservative viewers.

“Now we’re walking through a fire hose of water, just trying to see,” he said.

Seinfeld astutely suggests that stand-up comedy has stepped in to fill the cultural void. The raw, unscripted nature of live performances provides a breath of fresh air from the scripted, politically-charged narratives of Hollywood. Audiences can trust in the authenticity of stand-up comedy.

“Depression? Malaise? I would say confusion. Disorientation replaced the movie business. Everyone I know in show business, every day, is going, What’s going on? How do you do this? What are we supposed to do now? … Audiences are now flocking to stand-up because it’s something you can’t fake. It’s like platform diving. You could say you’re a platform diver, but in two seconds we can see if you are or you aren’t. That’s what people like about stand-up. They can trust it. Everything else is fake.””

Despite the surge of new shows produced by streaming services, classic sitcoms like Friends and Seinfeld itself continue to draw large audiences, proving that timeless humor trumps today’s politically-charged Hollywood productions.
