In a shocking display of the escalating crime rates in Democrat-controlled Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass’s home was broken into on Sunday morning. A 29-year-old man was arrested after he shattered a back window to infiltrate the historic Getty House, where the mayor and her family were present.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, this incident is a glaring reminder of the deteriorating safety under Democrat leadership.
Bass expressed gratitude towards the LAPD for their swift response, though it’s worth noting that she had previously disagreed with calls to “defund the police” during her time in Congress. The irony here is palpable.
The mayor’s office stated, “The Mayor is grateful to LAPD for responding and arresting the suspect,”
The Getty House Foundation states, “The English Tudor style house was built in 1921 by Swedish immigrants Leta and Paul Paulson who purchased an acre of land along the nearby, ever-growing Wilshire Boulevard, in Windsor Square,”
“It was built by the same architects who designed the Egyptian and Chinese Theatres on Hollywood Boulevard.”
Despite being surrounded by security cameras and a gate for five decades in Windsor Square neighborhood, this historic mayoral residence couldn’t escape from becoming another statistic in LA’s rising crime rate.
It’s a bitter irony that Bass, who defeated Rick Caruso in the 2022 mayoral election, had increased the LAPD budget in August. Her actions seem to be a desperate attempt to control the crime wave that’s been unleashed under her watch.
