In light of recent events, it’s clear that the Hollywood elite and liberal media have no boundaries when it comes to their insensitive mockery. Blake Lively is just one example, having issued an apology for her distasteful comments about Catherine, Princess of Wales. Her regrettable actions only came to light after the revelation of Catherine’s cancer battle.
Lively had initially made light of an image featuring Catherine with her children, suggesting photoshopping was at play. However, she has since expressed deep remorse for her tactless behavior and removed the post.
“I’m sure no one cares today but I feel like I have to acknowledge this,” Lively said. “I made a silly post around the ‘photoshop fails’ frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry. Sending love and well wishes to all, always.”
It’s not just Lively who should be held accountable for such insensitivity. Other celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Stephen Colbert have also stooped low enough to ridicule Catherine in the past.
Colbert even faced legal threats after a crass monologue in which he speculated about rumors concerning Prince William’s fidelity – or lack thereof. “Now, there have been rumors [of] an affair between William and the Marching Band of Chicanery since 2019,” Colbert joked. “According to tabloids back then, when Kate supposedly confronted him about it, he laughed it off saying there was nothing to it. Always a good response when your wife accuses you of cheating,” he continued mockingly with a fake accent. “Ha ha, imagine me having an affair! It is to laugh.”
The backlash from social media users against these celebrities is well-deserved as they call out such bullying behavior towards someone now known to be struggling with cancer.
“Well done for making fun of a woman with cancer,” one user wrote indignantly.
“You bullied a woman with cancer,” echoed another.
The scrutiny on these entertainers is mounting as they are pressured into acknowledging their past insensitive remarks about Catherine amidst her health crisis.
