In a blatant display of partisanship, U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has once again made incendiary comments, accusing former President Donald Trump of instigating what she calls a “terrorist attack” on January 6. Her appearance on CNN’s “State Of The Union” was nothing short of political theater.
When Jake Tapper questioned her about the perception of unequal treatment under the law regarding Donald Trump, Ocasio-Cortez responded with her typical far-left rhetoric. “Has there ever been a president, Republican or Democrat that has been subject to this level of criminal charges, indictments, and investigations? This is not about party. This is not about politics. This is about corruption and criminality,” she claimed. She went on to accuse Trump of ordering “essentially a terrorist attack on the Capital of the United States in order to retain power.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s hyperbolic narrative surrounding the January 6 Capitol event has been consistently overblown. In interviews following the incident, she claimed to have feared for her life despite later revelations that she wasn’t even present in the Capitol building during the disturbance.
“You have all of those thoughts where, at the end of your life, and all of these thoughts come rushing to you. And that’s what happened to a lot of us on Wednesday,” Ocasio-Cortez said. She further alleged that her colleagues and staffers were nearly killed—a claim that faced significant scrutiny upon discovering she was not in the Capitol building at the time.
It’s worth noting how Ocasio-Cortez’s stance starkly contrasts with her views on the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020 when she defended protests causing extensive property damage and loss of life by saying, “The whole point of protesting is to make people uncomfortable.” Such hypocrisy reveals a double standard that favors chaos when it suits her agenda but labels similar actions as terrorism when they do not.
The congresswoman’s selective outrage and manipulation of facts serve only to deepen divisions rather than seek justice or truth. It’s clear that for politicians like Ocasio-Cortez, it’s not about upholding democratic principles but rather pushing a biased narrative against conservatives at any cost.
