A snowboarder at Heavenly Ski Resort in California was found after spending 15 hours trapped in a gondola amid freezing temperatures.
Monica Laso became stranded when the gondola stopped, leaving her suspended in the air.
She yelled for help but couldn’t be heard and didn’t have her cellphone.
“I screamed desperately until I lost my voice,” Laso said.
She spent the night trying to stay warm as temperatures dropped to 23 degrees.
Friends reported her missing, and she was found the next morning when the gondola was started for the day.
“The safety and well-being of our guests is our top priority at Heavenly Mountain Resort,” resort vice president and chief operating officer Tom Fortune stated.
Laso was responsive and declined hospitalization.
The resort is investigating the incident.
