Hunter Biden Takes Aim At Big Oil
Hunter Biden jumped into the energy debate Friday by attacking Chevron, Exxon, and President Trump over oil company profits. In his post, Hunter claimed Chevron posted $12 billion in profit, up 400% in a year, while Exxon made $14.5 billion. He then told Americans, “You paid for all of it at the pump,” before adding that Trump was “making big oil great again.” That is quite a sermon coming from a man whose name has been tied for years to foreign energy deals, but in politics, irony apparently comes with a lifetime warranty.

The Industry Fires Back
The US Oil & Gas Association responded directly to Hunter Biden, and it did not exactly send a thank-you card. The group pointed to Hunter’s past work with foreign energy companies, including Ukraine’s Burisma Holdings and China’s CEFC China Energy, while mocking what it described as his lack of real experience in the oil and gas business. The association’s message was simple: after years of being paid by foreign energy outfits, Hunter Biden still sounded, in their view, like he did not understand the industry he was criticizing. That is the kind of return mail no political family wants to see land on the porch.
Burisma Comes Back Into The Picture
The association reminded readers that Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas company, placed Hunter Biden on its board in April 2014 while his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, was involved in U.S. policy toward Ukraine. According to the group’s statement, Hunter earned about $1 million per year, or roughly $83,333 per month, before that amount was reduced after Joe Biden left office. Hunter remained with Burisma until April 2019. Critics have long argued that the job raised serious questions because Hunter had no deep background in energy, and because his family name carried obvious political weight. The association leaned hard into that point, saying he and associates, including Devon Archer, earned about $6.5 million tied to Burisma.
China Energy Money Gets Mentioned Too
The US Oil & Gas Association did not stop with Ukraine. It also brought up CEFC China Energy, a Chinese oil and gas conglomerate that has been reported to have ties to the Chinese Communist Party and military intelligence circles. The association said CEFC and related entities paid about $4.8 million to companies controlled by Hunter Biden and his uncle, and that the broader total tied to CEFC and related Chinese energy entities for the Biden family and associates was over $8 million. The group said its figures came from bank records, IRS search warrant applications, congressional memos, court documents, and contemporaneous reporting. In other words, they were not just tossing confetti in the wind and hoping it looked official.

The $20 Million Line That Stung
The sharpest part of the reply came when the association said that after Hunter Biden allegedly earned nearly $20 million working for foreign-owned oil and gas companies, his post showed he still did not understand the oil and gas business. That line cut because it hit the heart of the complaint many conservatives have had for years: Hunter Biden was treated like an expert when the real product looked like access, not skill.
