Undercover Video Puts Pentagon Advisor in the Spotlight
Senior Pentagon advisor Brandon Newsom has reportedly been placed on leave after an undercover video from O’Keefe showed him bashing President Trump. That is not a small matter. The Pentagon is supposed to serve the elected commander in chief and the American people, not operate like a faculty lounge with security clearances. If a senior official is caught on hidden camera trashing the president he is supposed to help serve, taxpayers have every right to ask what else is being said behind closed doors.
Leave Is a Serious First Step
According to the update, Newsom has been placed on leave. That does not mean every question has been answered, and it does not mean every fact is public yet. It does mean the matter was serious enough for action to be taken. In normal Washington fashion, the first instinct is often to circle the wagons, polish up a statement, and hope regular Americans get distracted by the next shiny object. This time, the video appears to have forced the issue into the open.
The Chain of Command Still Matters
Conservatives have been warning for years that parts of the federal bureaucracy act like they are permanent rulers instead of public servants. The military chain of command is not a suggestion box. Civilian leadership is chosen through elections, and the Pentagon’s job is to carry out lawful policy, not quietly undermine the president because some insiders do not like the voters’ decision. Disagreeing in private as a citizen is one thing. Serving in a senior Pentagon role while bashing the commander in chief is another matter entirely.
Americans Deserve Straight Answers
The public deserves to know what Newsom said, what role he held, who supervised him, and whether his views affected any official work. That is not partisan gossip. That is basic accountability. The Pentagon handles national defense, massive budgets, and life-or-death decisions. When someone in that system is reportedly caught on hidden camera attacking President Trump and then placed on leave, the response should not be a quiet paperwork shuffle. It should be clear, honest, and fast enough that even Washington can understand it without forming a committee first.
