Trump Calls Out Lauren Boebert as Weak for Backing Thomas Massie

Trump Turns His Attention to Boebert

President Donald Trump is once again reminding the GOP that loyalty is not a suggestion, it is apparently the whole game. On Saturday, he publicly blasted Rep. Lauren Boebert after she campaigned alongside Rep. Thomas Massie in Kentucky, and he even floated the idea of backing a primary challenger against her in Colorado. Trump has been trying to knock Massie out of Congress for months, so Boebert’s appearance with him was not going to win any awards at Mar-a-Lago. In a Truth Social post, Trump called Boebert “Weak-Minded Lauren Boebert” and said he wanted to know whether anyone was willing to run against her in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.

The Kentucky Fight Keeps Getting Bigger

The flash point is really Massie, who has become one of Trump’s most stubborn Republican critics in the House. Trump has already endorsed retired Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein in Kentucky’s GOP primary against Massie, and he used the same Saturday post to take another swing at the congressman. Trump said Boebert was campaigning for what he called the “Worst ‘Republican’ Congressman” in the history of the country, then added that anyone who could do that “deserves a good Primary fight.” It was classic Trump, part warning, part political baseball bat, and all aimed at sending a message that standing with his critics can come with a price. The Kentucky primary is shaping up as one of the most watched House races in the country, which is not exactly a shock when Trump decides to enter the ring with both feet.

Boebert Says She Is Not Backing Down

Boebert did not rush to the cameras to trade insults, at least not at first. When Fox News asked about Trump’s comments, she said she did not want to “elevate” the situation. She later took a more direct approach on X and said she was not angry or offended. Boebert said she knew the risks when she chose to stand with Massie and added, “I was, and will be, America First, America Always, and MAGA. Onward.” That is one way to answer a Trump broadside without sounding rattled. It also shows how messy these GOP battles have become, because even longtime allies are now finding themselves in the middle of Trump’s loyalty tests. Boebert clearly wanted to make the point that friendship and principle still matter, even when the political cost is loud, public, and posted before breakfast.

Massie Pushes Back on Trump

Massie also weighed in after a campaign rally Saturday in Kentucky, telling Fox News that Trump should be trying to fix relationships inside the Republican Party instead of making them worse. Massie said Trump should be “mending fences” rather than “trying to burn bridges,” which is a fair line, even if it sounds like the kind of thing you say when your party is one bad week away from a food fight. Massie has long irritated Republican leaders by breaking with them on spending, foreign policy, and transparency issues, and he has also pushed for the release of government files related to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump’s renewed attacks show he has no intention of letting Massie slide, and Boebert’s Kentucky visit gave him one more opening to widen the fight.
